Hearing loss reported as the 3rd most common chronic condition in the U.S.

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - Hearing loss is the third most commonly reported chronic condition reported in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Nardelli Audiology, with offices in Clarksburg and Bridgeport, said that hearing loss often goes untreated because it happens gradually.

They suggests that anyone over the age of 55 receive an annual hearing test.

"And then it is the family member saying you are turning the TV up or you know you aren't hearing when you go out to dinner. So usually because it is so gradual the patient, the patient doesn't notice right away," said Melissa Rose, Doctor of Audiology.

Nardelli Audiology will be offering free hearing screenings next week.
